Many of the neighbors seem high-class and not too concerned with their new neighbors the Freeman family. The Freeman’s are welcomed by their Woodcrest neighbors and the real owner of their home Ed Wuncler voiced by actor Ed Asner at the garden party. The main characters/ family consists of Robert Jebediah Freeman known as “Granddad” voiced by actor/comedian John Witherspoon, Huey Freeman the oldest grandson, and Riley Freeman the youngest grandson both voiced by actress Regina King who are Chicago natives that move out to the suburban neighborhood of Woodcrest. I was right but didn’t know the pretense of the garden party. My initial presumption of this episode was that it was about a garden party hence the title. I finally bought some so I could watch it that Tuesday since I didn’t have class however I only watched this episode since I had class the next day. I watched this episode at home alone with some popcorn and iced tea. I like that McGruder gave the main characters a little makeover while still keeping their basic look so that the cartoon could let the audience see more details of their face unlike the comic strip that seemed less attractive in my opinion. I read The Boondocks comic strip a few times but as you may know not many people read newspapers anymore.

The comic strip is essentially what the cartoon series that premiered on the Cartoon Network programming block Adult Swim would be based on. This is the first episode of the cartoon series written by comic strip writer of the same name Aaron McGruder.
